Building
was the site itself because the building had to be
constructed in the space defined as air rights over the
RTA Tracks. A giant platform was constructed supported
by 200 caissons which penetrated the surface to a depth
by 230 feet. A small utility building housing the
transformers is the only structure on the ground. • The
site is defined by the surrounding streets of
Superior Avenue,
Prospect Avenue
and
West 6th Street,
in downtown
Cleveland.
The design resulted in a 7 sided structure which closely
reflected the configuration of the site. • The interior
design presents some breath-taking panoramic views of
the River, The Viaducts bridges and 320 degree view of
the west side of Cleveland. • The building includes an
open space under the east side to present a very
delightful urban park in downtown
Cleveland.
The building contains the Office of the Governor,
the State Auditor’s Office, State Welfare Office, State
Employment Office, Bureau of Workers Compensation and
other State offices located in
Cleveland,
Ohio
including the Ohio Lottery. • The design award
winning building is 14 stories, high with 430,000 square
feet.
